As mentioned in our last blog post, the first task we set #TeamBreconCarreg was to choose a charity that they wanted to raise funds for this summer.
We’re absolutely thrilled that they have decided to run for Wales Air Ambulance. It’s a charity that Brecon Carreg have supported for many years as-well-as one that’s close to the heart of a number of the #TeamBreconCarreg members:
“They are life savers in every which way that term can be used. I hope that I can go a small part in repaying them help save my life in 2015. I am sure that without their swift actions, I would not be here today. This is a way for me to thank them. I am honoured that our team will help fund more life saving call outs.” – Sonali, #TeamBreconCarreg member
“I’ve watched the air ambulance in action a few times and witnessed them landing when a little boy was severely injured in a road accident while I was out on a run last year. They are a true inspiration and I’m honoured to be running every mile I can to raise as much as we can for them. Running for a cause gives you that little bit of extra strength to dig deep and go a bit further. I can’t wait to see how many miles we clock up between us!” – Sabrina, #TeamBreconCarreg member
For every mile that #TeamBreconCarreg run in both training and races between now and October, we’ll be donating £1 to Wales Air Ambulance.
Mark Stevens, Wales Air Ambulance Fundraising Manager, said: “Brecon Carreg have been providing outstanding support for Wales Air Ambulance for the past three years. Not only have they been kindly donating to us, but they have also been supporting us by donating Brecon Carreg water. We have been able to use this for our fundraising events and our crew can keep it in the helicopter to stay hydrated during a busy day of missions. Now Team Brecon Carreg are running for WAA as well, donating a pound to our charity for each mile they run. As a charity, we rely on support and donations to raise to raise the £6.5million needed every year to keep our four helicopters flying. We would like to thank Brecon Carreg of their support, which is helping to fund our missions across Wales.”
We’ll be sharing monthly total updates on our social media pages – keep your eyes peeled!
