Brecon Carreg Announces Bold Move: Oakwood Theme Park Relocating to Brecon Beacons!

Back to our blog

In a move that has left thrill-seekers and nature lovers equally astounded, Brecon Carreg has announced plans to relocate the recently closed Oakwood Theme Park to the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

The ambitious project, named HydroWorld, will see iconic rides such as Megafobia, Speed, and Drenched find a new home alongside Brecon Carreg’s natural water source. The company has assured visitors that the move will provide a unique theme park experience, combining breathtaking rollercoasters with the stunning natural beauty of the Welsh countryside.

A spokesperson for Brecon Carreg commented:

“We’ve always been passionate about water, but now we’re making a splash in a whole new way! After seeing Oakwood close its doors, we realised this was the perfect opportunity to bring a fresh wave of excitement to the Brecon Beacons. We’re excited to create a one-of-a-kind theme park where visitors can enjoy both adrenaline-pumping rides and the purest water in Wales—all in one location!”

New Attractions Inspired by the Beacons

The relocation won’t just be a simple transfer of rides. In a nod to Brecon Carreg’s heritage, the company has announced several new water-themed attractions, including:

  • The Spring Surge – a log flume ride that plunges guests into the crystal-clear waters of Brecon Carreg’s source.
  • The Carbonated Coaster – a bubbly experience that simulates the natural effervescence of Wales’ favourite bottled water.
  • Rocky Rapids – an extreme white-water rafting ride inspired by the rugged landscapes of the Brecon Beacons.

To ensure minimal environmental impact, all rides will be powered using a revolutionary new system—pure Welsh enthusiasm (and a little hydropower).

A Refreshing Experience

Guests will be able to refill their water bottles directly from natural springs located throughout the park, with free-flowing hydration stations at every attraction. Park-goers can even sign up for ‘Spring Tasting’ tours to learn more about the journey of Brecon Carreg water from the Beacons to the bottle.

Local officials and tourism experts have praised the bold initiative, citing its potential to boost tourism, create jobs, and redefine the theme park industry. One local councillor stated:

“This is the most exciting thing to happen in Wales since Gareth Bale’s bicycle kick! We can’t wait to welcome visitors from across the country to experience thrills, spills, and the crisp taste of Brecon Carreg water—all in one place.”

With construction set to begin later this year (pending approval from mountain goats and resident sheep), the new HydroWorld park is expected to open just in time for next year’s April 1st celebrations – you’d be a fool to miss it!
