New look and 2023 date unveiled for Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10K

Back to our blog

An exciting new look and date has been unveiled for the Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10K.

The popular springtime event, which is the largest 10K road race in Wales will return to its traditional pre-pandemic date for the first time since 2019 on Sunday 26 March 2023!

Set in the heart of Cardiff’s historic Bay, this early season 10K takes in iconic landmarks and stunning scenery including the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff Bay Barrage and Norwegian Church.

The flat, fast and friendly event attracts some of the UK’s top athletes but is perfect for runners of all ages and abilities – whether you’re looking for a challenge, to get or keep fit, raise money for charity or take on your very first 10K.

There’s also a series of exciting supporting Junior races, meaning the whole family can get involved.

We, Brecon Carreg, are the headline sponsor for the fifth time, using our association with the race as a vehicle to promote recycling, sustainability and the fight against plastic waste.

Entries will go on sale this week, with registration opening on Thursday 10 November. The race will once again kick-start the R4W 10K Series (which includes races in Cardiff Bay, Newport, Porthcawl and Barry Island) with a Season Ticket offer available.

A limited number of multi-event passes will be made available on a first-come, first-serve basis for those looking to enter two or more events in the 10K Series, with the discount increasing when you commit to more races.

Only 1,000 multi-event passes are available in each race and are expected to sell out fast. There are savings of up to £28 (equivalent to one race free!) available when committing to all four events.

You can now pre-register and receive priority access to the Season Ticket offer. Those pre-registering will receive a priority access registration link on Thursday 10 November, hours before entries open to the public. Individual Cardiff Bay 10K entries, starting from £26 will also be available.

Entries are already open for those looking to dedicate their 10K to a good cause by signing up to run for the race lead charity Velindre. £10 entries are available to those pledging to support the hospital of hope by raising a minimum in sponsorship of £100. Fundraisers will join the likes of Welsh rugby legend Shane Williams, who confirmed he’d be running the 2023 event for Velindre.

Good luck!
